The Soplao Cave discovered in the early 20th century during exploration of the Florida mines, is considered one of the great wonders of geology, as it is a true speleology paradise with eccentric formations, stalactites, stalagmites, lava flows, columns, pearls, dog teeth and more.

Discover the history of this universal cave, considered one of the most prestigious in the world and a masterpiece of Palaeolithic art. 

It features impressive paintings discovered in 1868. Bison, horses, deer, hands and mysterious symbols were painted and engraved during which the original Altamira cave was in habited, between 36.000 and 13.000 years before the present.

This cave and National Museum are located in Santillana del Mar, 10 minutes by car from Barcenaciones.

A 2,5 hectare forest declared a National Monument and Protected Natural Area, it´s ideal for taking a stroll and enjoying

the splendour and color of more than 848 giants sequoia trees, each averaging over 36 meters tall and 1.6 meters wide.

They were planted in 1940, during the early years of the Franco regime.
